The monastery of Agios Georgios is located on the north side of Vourgareli, surrounded by dense fir forest. It is the jewel of the village and one of the most important sights of Tzoumerka. It was founded around 1690 and was dated in 1714, according to an inscription on the wall between the pronaos and the katholikon. Its great reputation is due to the great and invaluable national contribution, since in the difficult years of Turkish rule, it was the national, religious and spiritual center of the whole region of Tzoumerka.
